ABOUT THIS CARE PATHWAY
Children may not describe visual difficulty clearly. This care pathway includes age-appropriate examination, refraction, alignment assessment and counselling. Squint, amblyopia and paediatric surgery planning are coordinated with the relevant SGVEH paediatric/squint specialist according to the clinical diagnosis.
Eye turning in or out, head tilt, eye rubbing, close viewing, poor school performance, unequal vision, white pupil or family history of childhood eye disease.
Child-centred assessment, refraction, alignment and binocular vision evaluation, amblyopia guidance and specialist allocation when required.
